While previously we compared TP-Link Archer C7 to the C8 and C9 in two separate occasions, this time, we are about to discuss the differences between TP-Link Archer C7 and C5. Like the C8 and C9, C5 and C7 share a lot of resemblances to each other. They both look identical to each other in many ways, though there are indeed some distinctions. Needless to say, the C5 is more affordable and budget-friendlier than C7. So, between TP-Link Archer C5 and TP-Link Archer C7, which is the router that you should get?
Design
Quite interestingly, TP-Link Archer C5 and TP-Link Archer C7 share a lot of similarities with each other, in a sense that they are both colored in total black and equipped with green indicator lights. However, we may notice that TP-Link Archer C7 has more indicator lights than TP-Link Archer C5, but this does not necessarily mean that the C7 has more features than the C5. It is just the C7 provide a more detailed information through the extra indicator lights. Furthermore, the C5 only has two detachable external antennas while the C7 has three. With more external antennas, you will be able to more properly aim the directions of the wireless signal projection towards the devices in different rooms. This difference also indicates that the C7 has a wider Wi-Fi coverage area than the C5.
Performance
Besides having a wider Wi-Fi range, TP-Link Archer C7 also comes with more bandwidth than TP-Link Archer C5. Both are dual-band routers. The cheaper model offers 300 Mbps of maximum speed for the 2.4 GHz frequency and 867 Mbps for the 5 GHz frequency. On the other hand, the slightly more costly one boasts 450 Mbps and 1300 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels, respectively. As you can see, the bandwidth increase is quite huge. TP-Link Archer C7 can give a higher network speed, as well as serve more devices with less loss in performance compared to TP-Link Archer C5.

Despite the different numbers of indicators lights. TP-Link Archer C5 and TP-Link Archer C7 actually come with identical additional features. They both are already armed with various security, network management, and access control functions. Each of them also happens to come with one WAN, four LAN, and two USB 2.0 ports.
