Netgear N750 vs. AC1200

If you are seeking for a dual-band router that doesn’t break the bank, don’t forget to check the article as well! However, this time, we are about to take a look at Netgear N750 and Netgear AC1200. A lot of people have become confused in choosing between these two products because the gap between their prices is not that much. Indeed, Netgear AC1200 is more expensive than Netgear N750, but which model has the best performance? Which has the fullest value for the money? Let’s see.

Netgear N750 vs. AC1200

Performance
Both of these routers are dual-band, which means that they each possesses two wireless signal channels that operate independently and simultaneously, one on the 2.4 GHz frequency and the other on the 5.0 GHz. However, you should be aware that Netgear N750 still relies on the older 802.11n Wi-Fi standard, whereas Netgear AC1200 already supports the newer 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard.

The newer technology promotes higher potential speeds and more stability. This is evident in the amount of bandwidth that each router offers. Netgear N750 only comes with 300 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz and 450 Mbps for the 5.0 GHz. On the other hand, Netgear AC1200 boasts 300 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps for the 5.0 GHz. As you can see, the maximum speed for the lower frequency actually remains the same, but the speed for the higher frequency is increased almost doubly-over.

Furthermore, Netgear N750 utilizes internal antennas. The area coverage is decent, suitable for medium to large homes. However, Netgear AC1200 comes with a pair of external antennas. The area coverage is quite wider, as it is suitable for large homes. You can also see discussion about Netgear N750 in here.

Other Features
The two routers share some similar features, such as the compatibility with the NETGEAR Genie app, which allows for remote network control and management, also double firewall protection and DoS attack prevention. Each of them comes with one USB 2.0 port, and one WAN and four LAN Gigabit Ethernet ports.

In terms of design, Netgear N750 is perhaps space-friendlier than Netgear AC1200. The N750 is designed to stand vertically with a foot-stand, while the AC1200 is laid horizontally.
