Epson XP 950 vs XP 960

After a great success with Epson XP 950, the company has quite recently released an update for the model, namely Epson XP 960. These two are professional-grade specialized photo printers. You can rely on them for the truest and most accurate representation of your images and photographs. However, Epson XP 960 is indeed currently being priced a little bit higher than Epson XP 950. Design
As you may have expected, Epson XP 950 and Epson XP 960 come with an identical size. Each of them measures by 18.9” W x 25.9” D x 11.6” H in the full form, and weighs 23 lb. They each also comes with a 100-sheet input tray, a 20-sheet secondary photo paper tray, and a 30-sheet output tray. On the front panel, you can find a touchscreen for display and control, allowing for a very practical and convenient usage. However, Epson XP 960 comes with a larger display screen than Epson XP 950. The display screen of Epson XP 950 is only 3.5-inch, while Epson XP 960’s is 4.3-inch.

Both Epson XP 950 and Epson XP 960 have also integrated scanner and copier functionality. You can find a color flatbed with 4800 dpi optical resolution on the top side. The input is 48-bit color, 16-bit black-and-white, while the output is 24-bit color, 8-bit black-and-white.

Performance
Both models also come with identical printing quality. They have a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440. However, there is a minor drawback on the newer model. While Epson XP 950 boasts at least 9.0 ISO ppm of printing speed, Epson XP 960 only has 8.0 ISO ppm. This is perhaps because Epson XP 960 consumes less power. Epson XP 960 has been designed with a significant power consumption than the older model.

Epson XP 960 still retains Epson XP 950’s Ethernet and USB ports. Both models also have built-in Wi-Fi for practical and seamless mobile printing. Yet, Epson XP 960 has added the Wi-Fi Direct support for an easier connection.

Epson XP 950 vs XP 960
Even though Epson XP 960 prints slightly slower than Epson XP 950, it consumes significantly less power and features a wider display screen. Therefore, we recommend you to choose Epson XP 960.
