Epson SureColor P400 Review: A Bridge To The Higher Level

Similar to Epson Artisan 1430, Epson SureColor P400 is perhaps best described as a versatile special purpose printer. However, unlike Epson Artisan 1430 that is largely considered as a budget-friendly choice, Epson SureColor P400 is a little more expensive. It is not necessarily of the high-end class, but most people will agree that it is more of a mid-ranger. Even though you will require some more cash to get it, Epson SureColor P400 indeed offers some powerful punches, and the fact that it can handle various paper types equally well makes it considerably versatile if you do not only use glossy photo papers all the time. Epson SureColor P400 makes an excellent choice if you are still doubtful to spend so much for a specific photo printer.

Epson SureColor P400 Review - A Bridge To The Higher Level

Epson SureColor P400 Review
Epson SureColor P400 is an advanced yet simplified 13-inch unit that possesses various technologies that often found in higher models. It is capable of producing images up to 5760 x 1440 dpi, blazingly detailed. The MicroPiezo AMC print-head has a 1.5-pl minimum droplet size and integrates ink-repellent coating, making the output ultimately sharp and vibrant, true to the expectations. Its versatility is especially a huge advantage. Thanks to the roll media adapter, Epson SureColor P400 can do just fine to print panoramic images up to 13” x 129”. The trays and feed slots also accept cut sheets up to 13” x 19”. Tackling borderless images is also not an issue at all, and Epson SureColor P400 can also do CD/DVD printing by using the special built-in tray. Epson SureColor P400 works with WiFi, though USB and Ethernet ports are available.

Another secret behind its superbly vibrant prints no matter what paper type is being used is the UltraChrome HG2 pigment-based ink. It works with eight cartridges, with special red and orange inks to generate truer reds as well as rich skin tones. The auto-select black ink feature helps Epson SureColor P400 to move seamlessly between matte black and photo black channels, optimizing results with very realistic black levels. Photographs will have smooth color transitions, at the same time maintaining highlights and shadows. Photos printed by Epson SureColor P400 have fade resistance for up to 100 years under normal conditions, or up to 300 years if being kept in dark storage. Although it has superb printing quality, it doesn’t take too long to print; it can print an 11” x 14” pic only under 2 minutes! With such qualities, Epson SureColor P400 is indeed a great photo printer that you can choose if you handle various paper types often.
