Epson Perfection V800 vs. V850

Both models are armed with alternative 6 lines Color Epson MatrixCCD® as their photoelectric components. Both have the Epson Dual Lens Systems, with maximum resolution of 12,800 x 12,800 dpi. Also, they have the same bit depth and 4.0 Dmax optical density. However, there are some nifty additions in Epson Perfection V850’s optics that is not given in Epson Perfection V800. The additions are anti-reflective optical coatings and high-reflection mirror, which ensure that the scanning output result will always be in top quality, without light reflection noise, regardless of conditions. Unfortunately, as the effect, Epson Perfection V850 has a lower scanning speed compared to Epson Perfection V800, 10.8 ms per line compared to 12.3 ms per line.

Epson Perfection V800 and Epson Perfection V850 comes with excellent dust and scratch removal technologies. They come with Digital ICE Technology for films and prints which is capable of detecting dust and scratch disturbances as well as eliminating them. Thus, both models are excellent choices to treat damaged pictures or documents, and to convert these objects into undamaged digital files. However, Epson Perfection V850 comes with one extra software, X-rite i1Scanner, which works well with the anti-reflective capability.

Epson Perfection V800 vs. V850
For the fullest value out of your money, Epson Perfection V800 should be your choice. It packs an even better speed and similar output quality compared to Epson Perfection V850. Epson Perfection V850 extra features are indeed beneficial, but you can have quite a similar quality with Epson Perfection V800 already.
