Canon MG7720 is more expensive than Canon MG6821, but is it really worth the money? Weight and Dimensions
Canon MG7720 is a little bit more compact. While these two models both measure 14.6 inches deep and 5.9 inches tall, Canon MG7720 is 17.2 inches wide whereas Canon MG6821 is 18 inches wide. Well, the difference is not very significant, but you still have to make sure that you have enough space for the printer.

Canon MG7720 is definitely a step-up in quality. It can produce tinier droplets in 1, 2, and 5 picoliters to create finer details. The maximum resolution is 9600 x 2400 dpi, which is outstanding. It can produce larger photos with better sharpness and overall quality. It is also a faster printer; it takes only 21 seconds to print a borderless 4 x 6 photo. It prints at 15 ipm for black-and-white pages, 10 ipm for color pages.

Both models use the PGI-270 and CLI-271 ink cartridges. However, Canon MG6821 works with just five inks, which are cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and pigment black. On the other hand, Canon MG7720 works with six inks, featuring the gray ink for even better and more accurate black levels and shadows.

In terms of features, there are also a few differences between Canon MG7720 vs MG6821. There is an auto scan mode on the higher model, which enables the device to automatically detect what is being scanned and apply the suitable settings. Canon MG7720 is the best way to go. It has much better print quality and speed, and it has more features – the auto scan mode and self-opening tray are very handy. It is also more versatile in terms of connectivity. Nevertheless, if you only need a simple printer to print just small-sized photographs, Canon MG6821 is already sufficient.
