Canon MG5720 vs MG6820

Canon MG5720 and Canon MG6820 are two affordable photo printers that you can choose if you are looking for something that is capable of printing good quality images without breaking your bank account. These are new models that use Canon’s new ink cartridges, which offer enhanced color depth and brightness. So, what is the difference between Canon MG5720 vs MG6820? Canon MG5720 vs MG6820

Design
Both Canon MG5720 and Canon MG6820 are designed for home and small office uses. They have similar dimensions. They each measure approximately 18 inches wide, 5.9 inches tall, and 14.6 inches deep. Canon MG5720 is slightly lighter at 13.8 lbs, whereas Canon MG6820 is only a little bit heavier at 14.0 lbs.

Although their designs closely resemble each other, you can easily see that Canon MG5720 is equipped with a smaller touchscreen. It is equipped with a 2.5-inch touchscreen and several function and navigation buttons. There is a directional multi-pad on the right side of the touchscreen. Both models here are multi-function printers. Each has an integrated scanner that also functions as a copier. The scanner is on the top side of the printer. The maximum document size is 8.5 inches x 11.7 inches. On the front side, you can find the output tray right under the touch screen panel. Both printers can take a variety of paper sizes and types, including matte and high-gloss photo papers. The minimum paper size is 4” x 6”, while the maximum paper size is Legal (8.5” x 14”).

Print Performance
In terms of print quality, Canon MG5720 vs Canon MG6820 are similar. They both have the maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. Both printers can produce ink droplets in 2 and 5 picoliters to produce well-detailed images. They also use PGI-270 and CLI-271 inks, which have been improved from the previous PGI-250 and CLI-251 inks. The new inks have darker black levels and more brilliant reds.

Canon MG5720 is slower than the already slow Canon MG6820. The printing speeds of Canon MG5720 are only 12.6 ipm in black-and-white, 9.0 ipm in color. Canon MG6820 is noticeably better and faster at 15 ipm in black-and-white and 9.7 ipm in color. They are good enough for home uses and small office needs, as long as you don’t need to print dozens of pages quickly.

Both models are already able to perform two-sided printing automatically, which can greatly save time when printing multiple pages or drafts. Conclusion
In general, Canon MG6820 is more recommended due to the bigger touchscreen and faster printing speeds. However, the print quality and other features are similar to those of Canon MG5720. If you don’t mind the slow printing speeds, you can choose Canon MG5720 to some bucks. Both models offer excellent image quality, and they are great photo printers that won’t break the bank.
