Printer Types

Our computer is very powerful since there are so many tasks it can do and the smarter the machine, the more they can offer or are capable of working with. In the computer setup a printer is always a great companion because most of us are working with documents too and to make these documents into something that we can bring conveniently or manipulate and apply some correction, the common method is still by turning it into printed object.

The printer as the name suggests will be useful when making documents or turning photos and pictures into something we can display in the room. There are few types of printers however and not all of our applications will match the equipment. The thing with printers is that they can get costly and quality over quantity is something you want to consider too. There are options for cost saving but with average printing and some that are meant to deliver best results, at a higher cost.

When it comes to printers, chances are you will choose between an inkjet and a laser based. There are many from each category and they can vary as well in price range. Inkjet is probably the most common and the most popular type of printer. We have bought 3 printers in the past for college use and all of them were inkjet. They are using liquid ink which is formed into droplets and then put on the paper to create the image.

There are also several different types of inkjets but the most common will be those that use separate cartridges with a printhead which is responsible for creating these microscopic droplets. The colors are only 4 including black so other colors are made by combining the different colored inks. On the other hand we have laser based printers which are more complicated in general for the way they work or put pigment into the paper. It is also using powder or toner instead of liquid inks.

The machine is working by creating static electricity on a rolling drum inside the printer. This attracts toner which is then melted onto the paper. When you open a laser printer, there is a long panel that we can just slide over to attach or detach it. Replacing the toner is also less messy but it is bulkier than the mechanism of inkjet printers. Toners actually cost more than liquid ink but they can last longer which yield more results and are more cost effective in general.

About Brother MFC-J995DW and Canon Pixma G7020

It is best to get the one that is more suitable for your type of application because we may have different preferences and applications. When it comes to printers, there are models with only printing function and there are options that can offer more such as Brother MFC-J995DW Vs Canon Pixma TR8620 or all-in-one printer. All-in-one printers are very convenient because they combine lots of functionalities in one machine and are useful both at home or office settings.

The common printer brands mostly carry more than a pair of all-in-one printers. Typically they are also very similar to each other based on who they are designed for but not all will be identical and fit in your application. Brother and Canon for example are some of the most well-known names in the market of customer level printers. They are carrying more than enough to consider and most are also very reliable, depending on which seems to attract you the most.

If you want to have a machine that can cover almost every printing need in the house or office, the Brother MFC-J995DW and Canon Pixma G7020 are perfect options. Both of them are an all-in-one solution meaning they can print, copy, and scan too. If you have the modem or equipment ready we can also use them to send documents via fax mail. They are very easy to use just like most printers; just power the machine, install the driver, and you are ready to go.

The differences are mostly on details because the most noticeable part is probably the amount of ink they come with. This may not be necessary because different printers can use ink differently and their lasting ability is not something that is guaranteed by the manufacturer. It always depends on the quantity and how often you need to clean the printer since this process will reduce ink amount too. In comparison, G7020 does make the ink amount easier to notice for its transparent design.

Brother MFC-J995DW and Canon Pixma G7020 Design

As expected from an all-in-one machine, none of the Brother MFC-J995DW and Canon Pixma G7020 are compact and they will occupy some space on your table as well. The Canon Pixma will take at least 15.9 inch wide, 27.6 deep, and 120-inch tall space on your table when the paper is installed. On the other hand the MFC-J995DW is 17.1-inch wide, 7.8-inch tall, and 23-inch deep when the manual feed tray is opened. The housing are both plastic as expected but they are robust and there are no concerning parts.

Both of them can be used with a computer or individually since there is a menu that we can navigate to choose the functions. They are using a small screen to show the interface and in comparison, the J995DW is much more convenient because it uses a touch-sensitive display instead of the so many buttons on G7020. However, we highly appreciate the transparent ink tanks which makes it easy to notice when you need to start refilling it again. On J995DW these tanks are concealed on the side panel.

In addition, both printers are capable of being operated wirelessly which means we can use a smartphone or smart device to connect to the device and print directly. Brother uses NFC for this ability or Wi-Fi while G7020 seems to only have Wi-Fi. For the resolution, Brother seems to have the higher details of up to 1200 x 6000 dpi while Canon is at 4800 x 1200 but for documents they look the same.
