Asus RT-AC5300 vs. D-Link AC3200

Are you confused in choosing between Asus RT-AC5300 and D-Link AC3200? Well, that is not a surprise. Both products are tri-band routers. Both products can be played as robotic spiders…. Well, that was a bad joke. What I wanted to say, is that both routers have multiple external antennas that circle around their bodies – much like robotic legs if you turn them upside-down. Between the two, Asus RT-AC5300 is indeed pricier than D-Link AC3200. Which is the one that you should get?

Bandwidth and Performance
One of the most important factor when choosing for the right wireless router is, of course, the amount of bandwidth available and the network performance. The larger the bandwidth, the better the network speed. You also need to consider how wide the Wi-Fi area coverage that you need.

Both routers are said to have very wide area coverage, as their Wi-Fi range is claimed to be sufficient for very large homes. Both are tri-band routers, which means that each of them has a single 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz wireless signal channels working simultaneously. However, Asus RT-AC5300 boasts a significantly larger amount of bandwidth. It boasts 1000 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz channel and 2167 Mbps for each of the 5 GHz channels, totaling with 5334 Mbps of bandwidth. It also features eight external antennas in order to provide the best network performance when handling multiple requests from multiple devices. On the other hand, D-Link AC3200 only offers 600 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz frequency and 1300 Mbps for the 5 GHz signals, totaling with 3200 Mbps of bandwidth, with six external antennas.

Furthermore, Asus RT-AC5300 does come with a more powerful processor than D-Link AC3200. Asus RT-AC5300 utilizes a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, while D-Link AC3200 relies on a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor. In combination with the bandwidth, Asus RT-AC5300 can actually provide higher maximum speeds than D-Link AC3200 in all channels, as well as serve more devices with less compromise on network performance.

Connectivity Ports
Both routers have identical connectivity ports available. Each of them comes with one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, one WAN and four LAN Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Other Features
Both routers do come with QoS functionality, along with various network management and access control features, such as network service filter and parental control. They also have built-in firewall systems for network security. Each of them comes with each own user-interface and a mobile app for remote control via a mobile device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

However, as an Asus ROG router, Asus RT-AC5300 boasts an additional feature that can be very attractive to gamers. It has a game accelerator feature in the form of built-in access to the WTFast Gamers Private Network, a series of route-optimized servers that can provide you extremely low and stable ping times for the ultimate gaming experience.
